This training provides the foundation and real-world application clinicians need to deliver effective, trauma-informed care.

This training teaches practicing clinicians the basic principles of Trauma-Informed Care as well as the particulars of Complex Trauma. The seminar will focus on how to assist clients struggling with basic struggles connected to past trauma exposure, how to understand the particulars of complex trauma as a treatment concern, and how to cultivate a practice that embraces trauma-sensitive principles. Case studies and interactive discussions will focus on the application of trauma-informed principles to private practice and community mental health settings.

Charles Jacob, PhDCharles Jacob, PhD

Charles Jacob, PhD, is a psychologist, research scientist, and author with over 20 years of clinical experience conducting and overseeing the delivery of mental health services to individuals with severe mood and personality disorders. He is a recognized expert in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) and has delivered workshops, seminars, and courses on these topics at universities and institutions throughout the world. He has held numerous academic positions, and currently works as a research associate for a Washington DC-based consulting firm. He is a past president of the ACA’s Pennsylvania branch and has been a featured interviewee on several episodes of NPR’s The Pulse.

After this training, participants will be able to:

  • Determine specific ways trauma-informed care is supported by extant literature in the treatment of specific client concerns as well as general practice settings.
  • Describe the basics of trauma as well as complex trauma; how they are defined, respectively, and what current scholarship indicates regarding treatment.
  • Evaluate strategies for incorporating trauma-informed care principles in private practice and community mental health settings.

  • You notify us at least 72 hours before the event starts.
  • Credit is valid for up to 6 months from the original event date.
  • No credit will be issued for no-shows or cancellations made on the same day.

All Other States Social Workers & Professional Counselors

All other states accept ASWB ACE Provider credits and NBCC-approved CE provider credits. Licensees are responsible for determining whether courses meet the CE requirements in their jurisdictions. States and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for credit.

Florida Certification Board

Clinical Events is approved by the Florida Certification Board (FCB) to offer continuing education programs (Provider # 5527-A).

Canada Social Workers

BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, and QC accept ASWB ACE-approved provider programs to meet licensure renewal requirements.  Licensees are responsible for determining whether courses meet the CE requirements in their province. Provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for credit.
