Spectrum of Emotions: Recognizing and Treating Emotional Dysregulation

Nov. 7, 2025

10:00 AM - 1:15 PM (EST)

Virtual Event
3 CE Credits
Struggling clients stuck in addiction and emotional dysregulation? Join Mrs. Caldwell Engle for a powerful workshop exploring how trauma, suppression, and dissociation disrupt emotional development. Learn her Spectrum of Emotions model to identify avoidance patterns, target root causes, and apply practical, experiential tools in clinical work. Perfect for clinicians treating chronic, co-occurring conditions.
Clients who struggle with chronic mental health symptoms and addictive patterns have a difficult time identifying, tolerating, and regulating their feelings.  They often respond to their emotions in a polarized manner which triggers their “fight or flight” response.  Consequently, the “fight or flight” response breaks down the feedback loop between mind and body, which over time, will be expressed through psychiatric or medical symptoms and diagnoses.   In this workshop, Mrs. Caldwell Engle will review the impact on emotional developmental caused by unresolved trauma, suppression and dissociation. She will explain the importance of an integrated “functional” approach to treatment and recovery.  She will also review her “Spectrum of Emotions” a conceptual tool, that explains the difference between healthy and unhealthy feelings, identifies patterns of suppression and dissociation and provides opportunities for desensitization techniques.  The Spectrum of Emotions also helps to identify the root of all addictive behaviors, and the often co-occurring physical and mental health symptoms.  She will provide specific cognitive and experiential treatment assignments and interventions. This treatment approach is applicable for any client who is stuck in addictive and self-defeating behaviors. Clinical examples and case vignettes will be given, along with time for Q and A.

This live interactive webinar is designed for behavioral health professionals, including:

  • Social Workers
  • Psychotherapists
  • Marriage & Family Therapists
