Therapeutic Interventions for the Treatment of Clients with Chronic Pain: A Biopsychosocial Approach

Jan. 9, 2026

10:00 AM - 1:15 PM (EST)

Virtual Event
3 CE Credits
Chronic pain isn’t just physical—it’s shaped by the brain, body, and environment. This training gives clinicians practical tools from CBT and Pain Reprocessing Therapy to reduce fear-based avoidance and build resilience. Includes child-specific adaptations and clear, actionable strategies to help clients move from frustration to empowerment.

This training examines the biopsychosocial nature of chronic pain, highlighting how the brain and nervous system play a central role in pain processing and somatic manifestations. Participants will review foundational theories and definitions of pain, gain psychoeducation on the neurobiology of pain, and learn practical strategies for applying this knowledge in clinical settings. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Pain Reprocessing Therapy. Child-specific adaptations will be discussed, as well as strategies for facilitating effective conversations between individuals experiencing pain and their support networks. Throughout, the training emphasizes fostering safety, resilience, and mind-body connection to help clients shift from fear-based to empowered approaches to pain management.

Session Highlights
  • Understanding Pain Through a Biopsychosocial Lens: Explore how the brain, body, and environment interact in with chronic, neuroplastic pain.
  • Examine how the nervous system amplifies or diminishes pain signals, including the roles of fear, attention, and safety learning.
