Survivors of narcissistic abuse need a therapist who truly understands their experience. This intensive training equips clinicians with a deep understanding of the complex dynamics of narcissistic abuse and provides effective strategies, tools, and approaches to support clients on their healing journey.
Narcissistic abuse is an insidious form of emotional abuse that can lead to chronic, complex PTSD in survivors. To support these clients effectively, clinicians must understand the complex dynamics of the narcissistic relationship, including cycles of abuse, manipulation and coercive behavior such as gaslighting, and the long-term wounds that scar survivors’ sense of self. This training will not only introduce participants to the above concepts, but will also explore how clinicians can utilize specific therapeutic models to support healing.

Amy Marlow-MaCoy, MEd, LPC

Amy is the author of The  Clinician’s Guide to Treating Adult Children of Narcissists: Pulling Back the  Curtain on Manipulation, Gaslighting, and Emotional Abuse in Narcissistic  Families (2023). She is also the author of the Amazon best-selling book The  Gaslighting Recovery Workbook: Healing from Emotional Abuse (Callisto Media,  2020). Amy is an internationally known expert on gaslighting and narcissistic abuse, providing training and continuing education credits for clinicians as well as consultation and mentoring for clinicians wishing to deepen and grow their strengths in working with survivors of narcissistic abuse. Amy runs a private practice treating complex and developmental trauma in adults raised in narcissistic, emotionally immature, and toxic families of origin. Amy has advanced training in multiple trauma treatment models, including IFS, EMDR,  and brainspotting.

After this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify at least 5 fundamental elements of a narcissistic relationship dynamic.
  • Recognize symptoms of complex trauma caused by long-term developmental and relational trauma.
  • Describe how to implement concepts from at least three therapeutic modalities and/or approaches to support narcissistic abuse survivors in healing.

Canada Social Workers

BC, AB, SK, MB, ON, and QC accept ASWB ACE-approved provider programs to meet licensure renewal requirements.  Licensees are responsible for determining whether courses meet the CE requirements in their province.
